Let's talk skin

Aesthetics

According to Milady Esthetics, the exhaustive textbook on the practice, Esthetics is “a branch of anatomical science that deals with the overall health and well-being of the skin, the largest organ of the human body.”

About

Our esthetician, Katie, practices as a holistic esthetician. According to the Cortiva Institute of Massage Therapy & Skin Care School, an esthetician “who specializes in holistic skin care learns all the basic elements of providing care for their clients. (We) learn how to give facials, full-body treatments, and massages, but (we) also learn how to treat a patients’ whole health, advising them on their nutritional and emotional needs.”

Furthermore, the Cortiva Institute differentiates: “more conventional kinds of skin care rarely go beyond the surface. While they seek to provide patients with the healthiest skin possible, they don’t usually try to identify hidden causes of skin problems. Holistic skin care specialists know that issues such as acne, eczema, redness, and flaking skin have their roots in other body systems that are negatively impacted by stress or a poor diet. With a deeper knowledge of skin health contributors such as nutrition and hormones, (we are) able to provide your patients with better and more long-lasting solutions.”

As a practice, we take a holistic look at esthetics, and consider the patient’s skin and body as a whole. Using this approach, we look at product ingredients with you, go through your lifestyle, and address skincare products that could be used to help heal or maintain skin conditions. We recommend routine skin treatments to help with your overall skin health and microbiome, and will refer out to our Functional Medicine providers and other specialists if further assistance is needed, especially in treatment of severe inflammatory skin conditions.

New Patient Whole Plant Facial Treatment:

For first time esthetic patients wanting treatment

*This booking is required if you are a first time patient to our esthetician, Katie Metzger, but not required if you’ve had a consultation prior.*

We believe in nurturing skin health, and in your first appointment with Katie, we aim to give you all of the tools to maintain it. For your fist appointment, we will spend roughly 25 minutes going over your current routine, and current skincare goals with Katie, who will then use that information to create a custom facial based on your individual skin needs.

Your facial will be comprised of: deep cleansing, exfoliation, steam and extractions*, custom mask, and skincare applications,

Your esthetician will recommend any additional add ons, like dermaplane, but this time will also all for any sampling and after-care recommendations.

60 Minute whole Plant Facial Treatment

*This booking is only available for return patients. Either a Skin Health Consultation or New Patient Facial Treatment are required prior to booking this appointment, unless you have already seen Katie.*

We begin your 60 minute treatment with a 5 minute follow up consultation, and then by gentle cleansing, centering, and prepping the skin for exfoliation. We then use steam* and enzymes*, masks, and proper skin care product application to soothe the skin. Your treatment may also include extractions, as needed, but you will leave with glowing, happy, healthy skin. We use Laurel Skin for our Facial Treatments, which is a whole plant, small batch line from California.

This appointment time does not allow for any add ons, such as dermaplane, lip exfoliation, or brow tweezing. Please use the 75 Minute Whole Plant Facial Treatment option to book a dermaplane as part of your facial.

*We may not steam and use enzymes, only as your skin tolerates it.

75 Minute Whole Plant Facial Treatment

This facial features all of the other calming, nurturing steps as the 60 minute facial (5 minute follow up consultation, and then gentle cleansing, centering, and prepping the skin for exfoliation.) We then oil dermaplane, typically with jojoba oil as the skin recognizes it the easiest, and follow with mask for your skin type.

Extractions will also be performed as needed, and then proper skin care product application to soothe the skin. You will leave with happy, glowing skin.

With this time, you can add on a dermaplane, brow tweeze, or any other 2 add on treatments. We may use steam* and enzymes*, masks, and proper skin care product application to soothe the skin.

Your treatment may also include extractions, as needed, but you will leave with glowing, happy, healthy skin. We use Laurel Skin for our Facial Treatments, which is a whole plant, small batch line from California.

This is the top tier of Facial Treatments, and is a favorite of our patients.

40 Minute Standalone Treatment Only

This is the ultimate Facial Treatment for the person on the go wanting either manual exfoliation or extractions only.

We will manually exfoliate via dermaplaning, which is the removal of superficial dead skin and vellus hair (peach fuzz).

This facial features a 5 minute follow up consultation, and then gentle cleansing, centering, and prepping the skin for exfoliation or extractions. We then oil dermaplane, typically with jojoba oil as the skin recognizes it the easiest, and follow with products best suited for your skin.

If we are extracting, we steam the skin and prep is for extractions. No masking or massaging are performed in this treatment. You will leave with happy, healthy, exfoliated or extracted skin.

We recommend dermaplane and extraction treatments once a month for regular skin maintenance.
